We're in it together

Deliver sport and physical activity experiences

The actual face-to-face delivery of sport and physical activity depends on having well trained and qualified coaches available. Without coaches, sport would not happen so the focus of our work is to ensure that excellent coaching is available throughout Gloucestershire.

We work with Sports Coach UK, Sport England, NGBs and local partners to support coaches and volunteers in Gloucestershire by providing:

  • A suite of training courses
  • Access to funding through Sportivate and Satellite Clubs
  • Guidance and advice
  • Connecting individuals to local deployment opportunities
  • Funding for local projects to increase the number of coaches
  • Advertising of coaching and volunteering opportunities

Our key priorities for 2016/2017 are:

  • Developing Black and Minority Ethnic leaders/coaches
  • Encouraging more older adults to volunteer and take up activator roles
  • Working to deploy coaches in areas of low activity levels
  • Development of coaches working within talent environments

Supported by Sport England and Sports Coach UK the overriding aim is to develop a workforce capable of ‘Excellent Coaching, Every time for Everyone’ in partnership with local National Governing Bodies (NGBs), district councils, educational establishments and other sporting organisations. As we pursue this aim, we will update our progress through case studies of our ongoing work. If you are interested in a project, or would like to discuss any coaching or volunteering opportunity please contact Niall Judge.
