Female Coaching Network
Developing female coaches in Gloucestershire is key to increasing physical activity, providing great experiences to women and also changing perceptions of sport and physical activity.
In today’s current industry, women only account for around 30% of the coaching workforce. This proportion drops to 17% of qualified coaches and only 12% of highly qualified coaches. In addition female participation in sport across Gloucestershire has fallen by nearly 2% (6,000+ women) over the last year.
In 2017 Active Gloucestershire along with key partners launched ‘GlosGirlsCan’ to provide a central hub for resources, opportunities, promotion, and networking surrounding women and girls coaching, leadership and activating. The aim of Glos Girls Can is to increase women’s participation in sport and activities, enhance our existing coaching workforce, and providing more meaningful experiences to female coaches and participants across Gloucestershire.
The coaching network will include:
- Local opportunities
- A network to support, share and develop
