    Our programmes are designed for international teenagers who want to spend their holidays in the UK and learn English.

    Activity Leaders for Oxford International are paramount to the success of these programmes. They plan and run engaging, inclusive and safe onsite activities and lead the cultural excursions.

    The onsite activities vary from sports coaching, creative workshops such as arts and crafts, photography and drama, competitive sessions like the egg-drop challenge, discos, talent shows and other whole campus events and relaxing board game and films nights. Activity Leaders have the opportunity to be creative, if you have a special talent and want to teach our students something, creativity if actively encouraged!

    Excursions are a chance for our students to see exciting cities and places of interest. The Activity Leaders will give tours of these places and provide the students with exciting cultural and historical information. Ample support and materials are provided for the excursions.

    Activity Leaders live and work in the centres, undertaking some welfare duties such as meal and accommodation supervision, airport meet and greets and any administrative assistance the senior staff require.

    We look for no qualifications, but just passion, charisma and a little bit of experience of working with young people.

    You need to be:
    Eligible to work in the UK
    18 or over

    You should have:
    Strong communication skills
    Native or near native level of English
    Great organisational skills with a proactive planning approach
    Flexibility, adaptability and ability to cope with changing priorities
    A drive to work with fun, like-minded people to work collaboratively and contribute to team success
    The ability to motivate a group of young people

    You must:
    Be a confident, outgoing and sociable character
    Have a positive, “can-do” approach to work
    Demonstrate high levels of professional conduct

    The successful Cheltenham and North Tewkesbury School Sport Network (SSN), which has been in existence since 2010, is soon to become a Charity, namely: Move More CIO.
    This transition is imminent and will bring with it some exciting, new opportunities within health and family engagement, predominately linked to primary schools within the Gloucestershire, Wychavon and Malvern areas initially.
    Move More is looking to recruit a Health Activator to join the team. They will predominately be working in an outreach capacity, whilst the central office will continue to be based at All Saints’ Academy, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

    Start date will be based on the successful applicants’ availability / resignation period as well as the official launch of Move More, anticipated to be around Easter 2018.

    •To set up and facilitate age appropriate Health Awareness units, plus, specific interventions for identified children i.e. those most at risk of disengaging from physical activity, being or becoming obese and / or sedentary.
    •To work closely with primary school staff, to make a sustainable impact on all children’s lives and actually change behaviour in terms of healthy lifestyle and diet choices and enjoyment of physical activity.

    •General health support & awareness raising in terms of physical activity, diet, lifestyle habits and as well as specific interventions for groups and / or targeted children i.e. Fizzy, Change 4 Life clubs.
    •Devise, deliver and review a wide range of theoretical and practical based activities that primarily cover aspects of positive, healthy lifestyle choices.
    •To support lunchtime and after school activities, family based health work and intervention programmes to enhance the pupils’ awareness, knowledge and choices to further improve and sustain their overall health and wellbeing.
    •To support the school in other, health related programmes i.e. real Play, Health Award Scheme.

    The above is a sample of the functions and is not an exhaustive list and therefore the ability to adapt as the role develops is crucial.


    Knowledge and Understanding
    • Proven knowledge, understanding and experience in sport, various aspects of health and wellbeing, physical activity, leisure, educational settings, including project
    co-ordination and delivery.
    • Sound knowledge and understanding of child development, health factors and how to share key, child centred messages through fun and engaging programmes.
    • A clear vision and understanding of the positive role of physical activity, PE and school sport in the healthy lives for young people.
    • Knowledge of disability sport and inclusion strategies to promote the involvement in physical activity, PE and sport to all.
    • An up to date understanding of the current school sport landscape, health, obesity and wellbeing national concerns and the changes associated with this over the past 5 years.

    • Experience of developing and delivering health services and programmes to children and young people within schools.
    • Experience in developing innovative and informed solutions to the challenges faced by pupils, as well as supporting th ongoing motivation to sustain healthier lifestyle habits.
    • Experience of working across a range of different sports and physical activity areas.
    • Experience of delivering workshops and training, possibly in a range of health related activities, including physical activity, to children.
    • Proven experience of working in partnership with school personnel.

    Skills and attributes

    • Highly motivated, able to demonstrate excellent communication and inter-personal skills that can be adapted to best suit a range of needs and audiences.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills including the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet deadlines while managing any conflicting priorities.
    • The capacity to manage a large work load and meet deadlines.
    • An ability to work in partnership, delivering high quality, front line services that are flexible and responsive to need and change.
    • Creative and innovative in overcoming barriers for positive change.
    • The ability to create positive working relationships with a large range of school personnel and pupils.
    • The ability to work within cohesive and supportive teams as well as independently, when implementing initiatives / programes.
    • The ability to demonstrate the desire and passion to make a real difference to the lives and life-chances of children and young people, linking their school with their families’.
    • Proficient user of databases and Microsoft Office packages.

    • A qualification in health, education, childcare, social care or equivalent.
    • Current and full UK driving license (use of own car essential).

    A talented Senior Project Officer / Community Project Manager who believes in the value of getting people active, is needed to join us on a 12 month contract (secondments are welcome and depending on funding there is also the possibility that the role will be extended).

    You can expect an exciting role, visiting areas of the county, project managing our Satellite Club Programme whilst supporting the management and development of community projects that encourage positive change to the least active.

    Experience within physical activity / sports is not required, in fact, we would actively encourage applications from candidates who have not always loved sport or physical activity themselves but can demonstrate the ability to motivate, engage and empower everyone to get active every day.

    Reporting to the Physical Activity Specialist for Children and Young People the Senior Project Officer / Community Project Manager will take the lead on the effective delivery, monitoring and evaluation of the Sport England Satellite Clubs programme. On a day-to-day basis expect to build effective relationships with a range of organisations, manage budgets, attend networking events, contribute to training events, prepare reports, develop a sustainability plan, share learning, arrange and coordinate meetings, activities and events, identify opportunities to grow and anything else necessary to ensure the successful delivery of specific community programmes that target those who are least active such as ‘Beat the Street’.

    To qualify … You could be a Senior Project Officer / Community Project Manager or similar with a CV that demonstrates:

    • Experience, at grass roots level, engaging underrepresented groups in new activities;
    • Project management experience across a number of projects;
    • An understanding of the barriers and enablers to physical activity;
    • Experience of managing finances and budgets;
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
    • The ability to manage multiple priorities, troubleshoot and meet deadlines;
    • The ability to develop effective relationships and partnerships with a range of organisations;
    • A personal commitment to the vision and values of Active Gloucestershire.
    Due to the nature of the role you will need to have a full UK Driving Licence or the ability to get around the county.
