Walking for Health
Walking is one of the simplest and most effective forms of exercise you can do and it’s very easy to get started.
Health Walks are organised walks led by trained volunteers across the country as part of the Walking for Health initiative. Health walks offer people the opportunity to start to get more active and enjoy the outdoors in a safe, friendly and relaxed environment.
Health walks are designed to improve physical health, provide a social environment to improve mental health and wellbeing and are perfect for beginners with walk leaders and assistants on hand to support. If you join one of the groups it will give you the chance to explore the outdoors, get to know your local area and to meet new people.
Volunteering/organising a walk
The brilliant work that Health Walks do wouldn’t be possible without the help and support of the volunteers that organise the walks. If you are looking to support a walk in your area or train to be a walk leader then please contact your local scheme for further information.
For anyone wishing to set up a new walk please contact Sarah.
