Active Gloucestershire Statement

In response to the recent surge in racism and violence, Active Gloucestershire recognises, more than ever, how important it is to stand in solidarity with anyone directly and indirectly, affected by this divisive bigotry. We condemn all forms or racism, hate and discrimination and the actions of those seeking to disrupt the lives of our wonderful communities.

We can move is committed to Gloucestershire being a county that’s  both inclusive and supportive, where every individual can live happy and healthy lives, without fear of intimidation due to their race or religion.

Racism has no place in we can move. As a backbone organisation for this movement, we are committed to being anti-racist and encourage people to educate themselves, embrace difficult conversations and continue to strengthen community bonds in order to create an inclusive and active county.

We know that our county’s diversity is one of its key strengths, and we will work with our team and partner organisations to support, advise and guide affected communities; reassuring them that sport and physical activity is a safe space for all – one that embraces and celebrates the diversity of the people who live here.

We can take action together

We would like to invite anyone who is part of our network or partner of Active Gloucestershire to join us for an open event we’re hosting on Wednesday 28th August 5pm-7pm.

This will be a safe and supportive space hosted by the Active Gloucestershire team and supported by the Gloucestershire Race Collective. The event will offer those attending the opportunity to voice their concerns about recent events and share their expectations around how the sport and physical activity sector can respond to the ongoing challenges and create safe and inclusive spaces for everyone.
