Strategic Lead – Place Programmes

To support the growth of we can move, Active Gloucestershire are offering the opportunity for an exceptional individual to join our team to drive forward the growth of our place-based working and priority places investment.

This role provides significant opportunities to work locally within Gloucestershire and also with national partners, some examples of the opportunities you would have from joining our team are below:

  • Be part of a passionate, knowledgeable and collaborative team, where successes are celebrated and learning is valued as a core way to inform our future work and priorities
  • Gain a deeper understanding of the role physical activity can play in wider health and wellbeing outcomes
  • Understand how to apply approaches such as behaviour change interventions and whole systems thinking, specifically, how they can lead to long term, sustainable change at a micro and macro scale
  • Have exposure to a national collective of place-based partner organisations, from other localities though to national system partners such as Sport England, National Governing Bodies of Sport and Activity Alliance
  • Gain insight into the role of an established infrastructure organisation working locally and nationally, and gain a deeper understanding of we can move’s work across the county

The role, as our Strategic Lead for Place Programmes will provide the lead in embedding place programme development across priority places within Gloucestershire. You will support the Senior Project Officers within the place team to build local relationships of trust, to understand the barriers and enablers to physical activity within areas of Gloucestershire and work alongside other strategic leads to embed this cross organisational piece of work in other business areas.

You will be fundamental in growing our projects and programmes as part of our Sport England priority places partnership and you will work with a range of local and national organisations to do this. The role will involve building relationships and partnerships, project management, demonstrating impact and co-producing interventions whilst considering wider systemic barriers and enablers to activity levels and working in a strengths and asset-based way.

Trustee (Voluntary position)

We are seeking two Trustees to help mould the organisation’s future and enable everyone in Gloucestershire to live healthy, happy lives.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance and strategic direction of the Charity. They determine policies and objectives while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks. Trustees determine budgets and evaluate staff performances - safeguarding the financial health of the organsisation. They act with care and skill to reduce risks to the organsiation, and ensure transparency and accountability in decision-making. Furthermore, Trustees monitor and report the Charity’s progress to key stakeholders and regulators.

For this position, we hope to hear from strategic thinkers, who are able to remain objective and focus on the bigger picture during decision-making. The Trustees will be team players, who thrive when sharing their skills and knowledge. They will be committed to personal development, and strongly advocate for equality, diversity and inclusion.

In addition to these characteristics, the successful candidates will have experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • The voluntary and community sector - including Charity leadership.
  • Health, wellbeing or physical activity in Gloucestershire
  • People who have been impacted by inequalities in sport and physical activity
